Started in 2009 by Brian Douglass and Kristy Lyn Levings, Cache Creek Meat Co. raises chicken, turkey, quail, guinea, rabbit, and lamb on 25 acres of pasture at Chowdown Farm outside of Woodland and Esparto, CA. Coming from farming families in the Yolo County area, Brian and Kristy both have cooking backgrounds and approach farming with an eye towards culinary excellence. Over the last few months, we've seen an increase in the number of people wanting to jump into raising livestock and specifically raising chickens. We think this is a mostly good thing- with a few exceptions such as folks not really having any idea about basic animal care, food safety, etc. Additionally, maintaining a high quality of product in this nascent field is important to us.
